PATRICIA 'PATTI' OBRADOVICH SCHOLARSHIP FUND
The Obradovich family started a named fund in memory of Patricia ‘Patti’ Obradovich in May 2007. Patti graduated from St. Ignatius School in 1972; she is one of five children (siblings Tony ’68, Matthew ’70, Daniel ’74, and Theresa ’81) of Vincent and Mary Frances ’43 Obradovich. Patricia passed away at the young age of 44 after a courageous battle against cancer. Those who knew Patricia will forever remember her as a hero.
Senator Gordon Smith paid tribute to her saying, “Patricia Obradovich was a true hero because she dedicated her entire career to making her community, her State, and her Nation a better place.” In fact, her life was and still stands as a model for how graduates of St. Ignatius can make a difference in the world.
Patti’s true passion for service developed from her family, community and the schools she attended. She was known for being trustworthy, caring, and musically talented. After St. Ignatius Grade School she attended St. Mary’s Academy. There she was involved in student government, Second Wind, and the trike-a-thon fundraiser for which she garnered widespread publicity by involving local politicians. After high school, she went to Willamette University where she worked at the State Capitol as a resident director. Patti had a great work ethic from her early years. Upon graduation with a double major in political science and economics, she became an economist at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. In her 21 years of service she received a record 26 awards for outstanding performance and is an honored member of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers “Wall of Distinction.”
Patricia Obradovich is a wonderful example to our community as a person who was passionate about serving others.
